John M. Edwards III, DNAP, CRNA
Presenter Biography
John M. Edwards III is a DNAP, CRNA who focuses on acute surgical pain management. He received his Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice from the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia, in Madison, TN in 2021. In 2018, John completed the Acute Surgical Pain Management Fellowship from the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia. John received his Master of Science in Anesthesia from the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia in 2002 and his RN/BSN in 1996 from Murray State University.
John is a Co-Founder of Thoroughbred Anesthesia Academy and an adjunct faculty member at the Northern Kentucky University Nurse Anesthesia Program. Additionally, he is an academic liaison for the Acute Surgical Pain Management Fellowship at Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia.
John’s focus is on Patient-Centered care with strong clinical expertise in all facets of direct patient care and care planning. He is highly skilled in assessing and prioritizing patient needs, devising plans of care, and working with healthcare teams to deliver superior patient care. Accomplished in developing policies and procedures positively affecting patient outcomes hospital-wide. He has been instrumental in developing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery protocols for orthopedic, bariatric, breast cancer, colorectal, and both thoracic and general surgery cases that have improved patient outcomes and decreased the length of hospital stay. He Co-founded and Co-directed a hospital based Acute Pain Service that provided nearly 6,000 ultrasound guided regional anesthetics annually. Most recently, John has joined a practice that provides anesthesia and acute surgical pain management for ambulatory orthopedic patients with a focus on outpatient joint replacement.
